Adekunle Gold, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and graphic designer.
While growing up, Adekunle developed interest in music while listening to songs by King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey. As a teen, he joined as a member of the junior church choir he was attending and went on to write his first song at the age of 15.
The graphics design graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic formed a band “The Bridge” with best friend, Seyikeyz, in 2010 and they released four songs “No sleeping on a bicycle”, “Norm Breaker” featuring Skales and “All of me” (John legend cover). In 2013, he Left ‘The Bridge’ to debut as a solo act. Having identified his style of music, he released a song titled “Let it stop”, a song about peace for the nation.
In 2014, Adekunle went solo after he disbanded a music group he formed with a friend while in school. Adekunle Gold was dubbed “King of Photoshop” after posting an edited Photoshop image of him hugging Tiwa Savage. He later released his version of One Direction’s ‘Story Of My Life”, which he titled ‘SADE’. This song enjoyed massive airplay and got him signed to YBNL.
He went on release more singles, Sade and Orente with wide acceptance due to his unique style of rendering local content on international sound. His latest single which is currently receiving wide air play and accolade from fans is Pick Up.
