BIO: Ice Prince

Ice Prince is a Nigerian recording hip hop artiste. He came to lime light through his hit single “Oleku”, after the release of “Oleku”, the song went on to become Nigeria’s most remixed songs.

He was born in the city of Minna, the Niger State capital, northern part of Nigeria. Ice Prince and his family moved to Jos, the Plateau State capital, while he was still 2 years.
He attended Saint Murumba College, the same learning institution that produced the likes of P-Square, Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel, and also the Governor of Bauchi State Isa Yuguda. Ice Prince also went to the Science Tutorial College in Jos. He got admission into the University of Jos to study Zoology but had to leave school in his 100 level and focus on his music because of financial constraints as were so difficult and he had to survive.

His music career journey started out in Jos in a group called ECOMOG squad rapping and singing together. The group split up after a few years and after that, he joined the choir in church and started singing Tenor. Sometime later, he met MI and they became close, lived together, and did music together. He dropped a song that made it to Number 1 in Jos which could be said to be the song that made people saw him coming through and expose his potential.

In 2004, Ice Prince released his debut single “Extraordinary”. “Rewind”, another single he released, received radio airplay in Lagos and Abuja. His record deal with Chocolate City came off his affiliation with MI and Jesse Jagz. MI was signed first to the record label, later jesse Jagz and finally Ice Prince.

The progress continued and in 2009, Ice Prince came out 1st with his lead single “Badman” at the end of the Hennessy Artistry competition which featured artistes like Mo’cheddah, Blaise, and Jimmy Flames.

In 2010, Ice Prince dropped his debut album entitled “Everybody Loves Ice Prince” on the reason for title; he had this to say “What made me give my album that name was when I lost my Mum, really. There was so much love, so much care from all around the world. People really showed me love and it was after that incident that I came back to record my album and I thought what better name to call my album than Everybody Loves Ice Prince because I was shown love. The album Fire of Zamani followed two years after with a massive acceptance.

It is also very pertinent to mention that the prince of cool has a baby, Jamal.
