BIO: Victoria Kimani Nigeria
Kimani is an American-born Kenyan singer, songwriter, actress and entertainer. She is currently signed to Chocolate City and is described as the record label’s first lady.
As a singer, she is popularly known for her numerous hits and sense of style. Her penetration into the African music industry has earned her a number of nominations, with her singles receiving numerous airplay across Africa. She announced that her debut album may be out on the onset of 2016.
Victoria is the youngest of three kids. she has two older brothers and her parents are pastors. She grew up partly in Benin City, Nigeria while her parents were there doing missionary work. That’s how she ended up finishing high school here in Nigeria. She has been singing since she was about 9 years old but she didn’t record any song officially until she was about 16 and then she started singing back-ups, choir and also writing songs for other people.
After leaving Benin City, they went back to Kenya. She got into a university, but what she immediately did was singing back-up for Mercy Mara and she travels a lot with her music. She had to ask herself if she wanted to sit in school or she want to follow her dream which is music. It was really hard for her to take that decision because her parents wanted her to finish school and all that, but she couldn’t go on. She wanted to be on the stage and her parents eventually let her follow her dreams and she never went back to college.
In 2010, she performed a cover of Ice Prince’s hit single OLEKU and from this caught the attention of Chocolate City executives. In late 2012, she signed into Nigeria’s music label Chocolate City, based in Kenya as the first female artist to sign into the label, where she released her first single under the label, “Mtoto”, Swahili word for Child later on March 2013. The video was shot in Los Angeles.
On February 2015, Kimani joined forces with divas; Cynthia Morgan and Emma Nyra and released the vedio, “Vex”. On 23 July 2015, she released a new video, “Two of Dem”. On May 2015, she released her work, “Loving You”, where he collaborated with Nigerian label mate, Ice Prince. On 4 November 2015 she released “Booty Bounce.
